Injection Grids
A grid of injection points is typically used where contaminant concentrations are high or ground water flow velocities are low. The grid may cover a source area or a larger treatment zone within a dissolved phase plume. This approach is also commonly used for a dissolved phase plume where the source area has been removed and the center of mass of dissolved contaminants is migrating down gradient from the source area. Large volumes of diluted Newman Zone® should be injected to distribute the emulsified oil over a large area. Injection of smaller volumes may not provide adequate transport of the emulsified oil to contaminated ground water. Injection of large volumes may displace contaminated ground water without effectively mixing Newman Zone® with contaminated ground water. Balancing these concerns requires a site-specific injection plan.
